‘Tsukimi’ means Moon Viewing.
The Japanese tradition of holding special moon-viewing parties, in autumn in particular, dates back over a thousand years. Many Japanese buildings often had a dedicated veranda where one could sit and compose poetry whilst looking at the moon.
